WIS TEX BBQ was excellent! Great service, great food. The menu is simple but the food is high quality and the portion sizes generous. Let's keep a good restaurant alive in Stoughton.

Went to Wis Tex BBQ last night October 26th 2011 the food was good, nice to finally have a descent BBQ place to go to. But here's what I noticed, I ordered the beef brisket sanwhich platter with french fries and corn on the cob. First thing is I also ordered wings for an appetizer and they seemed to me to be very cheap wings there was an exceptional ammount of fat on the wings, the sauce was great just not the fatty wings. Second thing the Corn on the cob was very soft and mushy almost like it was boiled and then sat in the water for hours until ordered. Its a BBQ place it should be grilled! Beef brisket was very good and tender A+. But now the french fries were soft and had a hint of raw potato in the middle, I would much rather have krispy fries than soggy. With this review I'm not saying this is a bad restaurant and not to go there I'm reviewing what I ate. Everyone expects different things and likes food prepared differnt ways. Happy eating!

I have been the to Wis-Tex a several of times and the service has improved tremendously. My favorite is the smoked turkey and their bbq sauce is so delicious. I also recommend the deep fried mushroom.

Was glad to hear a new restaurant was opening in town. Tried it out...good food when they arn't busy. DON'T go when there is a crowd, you will have to wait for a table then wait even longer for your food which will probably be wrong when you get it. There are too many people doing the same jobs to get anything done right. The prices are a little high for Stoughton and people arn't going to wait 45 to 60 minutes for the food to come to the table. Do yourself a favor, if your hungry for BBQ drive a few miles and hit one of the tried and trues in Madison

We went to Wis-Tex tonight and I was really disappointed. I ordered the ribs and they came dry and the only sauce was vineagar based. There was only one sauce. What crisp french fries? Looked like Ore-Ida to me. It is obvious that a lot of work has gone into the place. I will wait for something different or an extra sauce before going back.

My wife & I were excited that a BBQ place was opening in our town - in location we have eaten at Two previous restraunts. So we went and will go back not because we thought it was all that good but to give them a fair chance. I had the Pork Shoulder & Brisket, Red Potato Salad, & Pinto Beans. My Wife had the Pork Shoulder & Sweet Poato Salad & Cole Slaw.

I was surprised when mine arrived and bothe the Pork and Brisket were so finely chopped as to almost be Puree. I expected shredded Pork and Sliced Brisket. I have eaten Brisket all over Texas (except East) sometime 3 times a day (Brisket Hash, Brisket Tacos, Brisket Platter) and have only heard that some places will chop the Fatty Brisket. Never once been served it this way. I said something to server and a lady came & told me Brisket was always done this way because it falls apart. I guess they think cheeseheads never travel or get the Food Channel. IT was smoked meat, but didn't have texture I prefer. The red Potato Sal;ad was totaly bland, with no celery nor pickle, just boiled egg & potato and I think ranch dressing. Needed salt, and some crunch. Unlike the Madison Dining reviewer I wanted a little kick in the Pinto Beans, maybe a few diced chiles, or onion or something. Wifes Cole Slaw was also totally bland, neither creamy or tangy. Bland seemed to be the theme. And no Sweet Potato or Lemon Pie, or Stubb's famous Bananna Pudding. But we will go back and try the Turkey and Ribs. Unfortunately, I don't have high hopes for this place, a lot of Square Footage for a BBQ place. They probably should have leased the old Taco Johns just up the street.
