Papa Bear’s BBQ has opened on Madison’s east side.  Taking over the vacant storefront which had been previously occupied by Bull’s BBQ, Papa Bear’s BBQ brings good, convenient brisket, chicken, ribs and sides to an area which desperately needs it!

We’ve tried it, we liked it, we’ll be back.

Visited Papa bears for the first time yesterday and was very happy with the experiance. The establishment is an excellant example of good southern vinigar bbq. Although I would not recommend staying in to eat as there is little space and small tables the food is deffinatly worth stopping for and taking home. We tried the ribs, bbq pork sanwitch, the garlic potato wedges and the colslaw. All were homemade and delicious. Food was prepared to order but showed up quick and well made. I will stop there again and deffinatly recommend it.

We have had the ribs, pork sandwich, hamburger with the delicious homemade olive sauce, corned beef bbq sandwich and the creamy just right tasty coleslaw. I think this is my stop tonight as well. Yummy good and everyone is so nice if I want more or less of something. No problem. Go and give it a try. When you walk in the door you may start to drool from the aroma. Oh, knocks you out.

it ain’t not gonna get any better than this ‘Que. This is real southern cooking that’ll make you suck those ribs clean.

The ribs are great, the sides are great, the service is great, HOWEVER

The little round previously frozen things they serve are NOT biscuits. I am a southern girl and have had a lot of biscuits and those are not them, unless you happen to be a little white dough boy.

I can tell you this much, this is probably some of the BEST BBQ in town. I have eaten @ every BBQ place(smokey johns, fat jacks, famous Daves, smokey bones, etc.)And this one tops them all off. Every time I have ordered something it has been consistent as far as flavor and how tender the meat is. And if you are new there and don’t know what to get i would recommend the beef brisket, you will not be disappointed!
