Madison Food & Wine Show this weekend
The Madison Food and Wine show is running this weekend! Head out to the Alliant Energy Center today (Saturday) from noon until 7PM, and Sunday from noon until 4PM. There’s plenty of food, wine and entertainment to be had, including the Dueling Chef Competition – Madison’s version of Iron Chef.
The Dueling Chef competition pits local area chefs against each other in a tournament to name the top Culinary Conqueror. Today’s heats are at 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm, with the grande finale to take place Sunday at 2pm. Participating chefs include:
- Angelo Cattaneo from the Blue Marlin
- Leonardo Guevara from Restaurant Magnus
- Scott Johnson from Captain Bill’s
- Charles Lazzareschi from Ovations at the Concourse Hotel
- Barbara Wright from The Dardanelles
- Mai Zong Vue from A Taste of Asia
They all battle to take the title away from Chef Shinji Muramoto from Restaurant Muramoto. Chef Muramoto has held the title two years in a row, and will be hard to beat.
For the competition, chefs be paired against each other and compete head to head. They will work with their assistant, and they will be composing two dishes based upon a mystery ingredient. On the fly, they’ll need to complete these two dishes, which will be judged by celebrity chefs and one lucky audience member. Dishes are judged on creativity, presentation and taste.
