It is an awesome authentic mexican seafood place. The ceviche tostada is always great and inexpensive. Not sure how it is getting bad comments, my wife is Mexican and she thinks it is authentic. This place exceeded my expectations which is a very rare thing. The wait staff is very kind and treats me like a customer who has been coming for years. I suggest anyone give it a try.

El Pescador was like heaven on earth! Finally some authentic Mexican coast food. Guacamole was the best in town and the tilapia is awesome. Service was great but a little slow. have told all of my friends to go and i cannot wait to go back.

I've been there twice and really enjoyed it.
Service:
The first night, our server was great, she was friendly and attentive. The second night, we had a different server who was not as friendly but did her job adequately.

Food:
My boyfriend ordered the seafood soup (don't know if it was the Caldo Siete Mares or the Caldo do pescado, but the waitress remarked it was the most popular thing on the menu) and all, I know is that he loved it. Second time he ordered the Pescado a la Tapatia and had no complaints.

*Note to vegetarians:
When we first went there, I knew that the menu was mostly seafood and I was slightly worried I wouldn't find anything to eat as I am a non-seafood eating vegetarian. There are only 2 things on the menu that are meat/seafood-less:
Fajitas Jardin and the plain Taco Salad. I was really in the mood for something else and, after inquiring, the waitress told me they could replace meat or seafood with grilled vegetables in many of the dishes (such as burritos, enchiladas, etc.) I ordered the Enchiladas Sonora with vegetables in place of the chicken. The creamy verde sauce on top was amazing. (and probably incredibly fattening). My only complaint is that the vegetables were extremely greasy, even if they tasted great, the over use of oil was excessive.
Also, they have some nice hot sauces on the table to try out.

Atmosphere:
Not the fanciest place, almost diner-ish... didn't bother me, tho.
Was loud, but lots of busy places are.. what are you gonna do?
Just wish there was some music but maybe that would've made it worse.

Drinks:
Theres a drink menu with (obviously) margaritas, beers and some interesting sounding drinks with spanish names that I'm not familiar with. Our first night we ordered Sauza Hornitos margarita's and we probably won't be ordering those again. They're huge, expensive and very weak. We like tequila quite a bit and were disappointed.
Next time, my boyfriend tried some strange drink on the menu which was basically Tecate beer mixed with tomato juice, lime juice and salt. It was..... interesting.
A friend ordered a cuba libre, which most people assume is rum and coke with lime, right? She received it and we were all very curious as to why it was clear and not dark. After trying it we discovered it was definitely tequila. We asked the waitress and she found out that it was Hornitos, sprite and lime. And it was STRONG! And much cheaper than a margarita!! The rest of us ordered one for ourselves.
This may have been a fluke.. perhaps that particular drink maker that night learned what's in a cuba libre later on.

Price:
Very reasonable for a whole lot of food!!

The atmosphere is cheap and loud.

The service is terrible. You have to ask for everything,
and then it usually doesn't come anyway, like more
napkins. They screw up an order and act like it's not
big deal. Yeah, it's a big deal when one person in the
party cannot eat at all for 25 minutes while everyone
does.

The food is amazing and priced affordable for what it is,
which is, more often than not, fresh seafood. When is
it not? When it's a steak or some non-seafood item; I
don't mean to imply that any of the seafood is anything
but fresh.

Go for food. Bite your pride and return for the food.
They should fire our waitress, but she's probably a
member of the "family."

This was the worst Mexican food I've had in Madison. Being of Mexican decent I was hoping for something more authentic. It seemed many of the dishes were missing key ingredients and flavorless. I will never return.

This is a great spot, in a great location.. I live nearby and was so excited when this place opened up. One criticism might be that the meals are heavily weighted to the seafood side, I'm used to mexican food being 'reasonably' priced, some of these dishes are expensive. I realize the name of the place stands for fisherman, I just wish the selection for the non-seafood dishes were expanded a bit. Love the food though.
