First Look at Brickhouse BBQ
Brickhouse BBQ has finally opened their doors in downtown Madison.
Pollo Inka has opened up on Madison’s far west side, serving a Peruvian menu.
Find address and hours here.
The Coopers Tavern recently opened up its doors on the Capitol Square. Billing itself as a neighborhood tavern that specializes in craft beer and rustic food, it has a very extensive beer menu, with items on the food menu that are unique and not often found in Madison.
Established as a joint partnership [...]
Kickshaw, in Fitchburg, has opened. With the interesting saga of aborted reality television pilots and failed restaurants involved, it was an opening that we needed to check out early.
The Green Forest Family Restaurant seems like it has been around a long time.
For a west-sider, going to the east side of town can seem like going to another part of the world. In this case that part of the world was Africa.
Paisan’s is a nostalgic treat for some of us, and a modern, lively Italian restaurant for others. No matter which group you may belong to, Paisan’s deserves a place in the heart of all Madisonian’s, old and new.
The third test was the food. And the food passed with flying colors. The menu is quite different this time around, with a more limited menu balanced between appetizers, sandwiches, and entrees heavy on steaks.
We have to admit, we didn’t even know that the Washington Hotel Coffee Room existed until a good friend told us about it. Tucked away in a quiet, residential-like neighborhood on Lakeside Street, this coffee room shares quarters with Lakeside Fibers and borders Monona Bay.
A new Asian restaurant opened in Fitchburg a couple of weeks ago. It is called Thai Noodle and occupies the location of the former LMNO Pies on Hwy PD
Daisy Cafe and Cupcakery has opened doors on Atwood Avenue, on Madison’s east side. Located in the building that used to house Bunky’s Cafe (which has reopened in the former Goodman Community Center a couple of blocks away), it is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
David Bacco Chocolats, located at Hilldale, represents one of the artisan chocolatiers that have emerged in Madison in recent times.
Samba Brazilian Grill satisfies the carnivore crowd with “meat on a stick” panache.
Madison’s Far East side should be brimming with dining hope. Talula has opened, and we’re excited.
We couldn’t resist. We went to visit the Tilted Kilt within days of opening to see what the fuss was about. And we found a restaurant which certainly may be a bit heavy on the clientele testosterone, but which also serves food that stands up to the test, for the most part.
We like the 1855 Saloon and Grill for what it is; a solid restaurant in an area desperately needing such a thing.
Mad City Crab House

Madison, WI
(608) 310-6933
Hours: Open for lunch and dinner, Monday – Saturday
Mad City Crab House has been opened on State Street for nearly a year now, filling the Madison need for a straight forward shellfish oriented restaurant. We tried Mad City Crab House for lunch several weeks ago. We found it to [...]
New restaurants open in Madison with amazing frequency. So, when a restaurant wins the 2007 Mad Diner Award for Best New Restaurant by a landslide, it deserves an in-depth look. This prompted us to invite some friends and head to Sardine to weigh in on the decision.
We recently took the opportunity that Madison Restaurant Week provides to sample Ovations restaurant at the Concourse Hotel. Our interest was piqued a few months ago when Madison Dining Online participated as a judge at the Madison Food and Wine Show Dueling Chef competition. Competing in that heat was Chef Charles Lazzareschi of Ovations. Since then, [...]
