I'm so sad to hear that Angelo's in McFarland has closed! My husband, father-in-law and I dined there regularly, and were blown away by the diverse menu and delicious food! It was the kind of place where the waitstaff made you feel at home, and after you ate there once or twice you knew everyone's names, and they knew yours. It is a shame that the local community did not embrace this gem of a restaurant. Wishing the best to John and Leslie!

"albeit not very bright"? Where the heck does that come from? Angelo's in McFarland was one of the best and most reliable restaurants in Dane County. I *never* had a bad experience there in over 30 visits.
It's a shame the locals, save for a loyal few, didn't support them.

The seasonal menu was one of my favorite things about Angelo's. Where else will I get to eat skate? I always enjoyed myself completely, from the ambiance to the service to the delicious and creative dishes. It was one of the only Italian places I could take my very picky Sicilian mother to, and we always had a wonderful time. Too bad it remained a mostly hidden treasure. I'm pretty sad about its closing, and I hope they'll come back to the resteraunt business again.

Hello, My name is Leslie Gitz. My boyfriend John LaRue and I were the persons responsible for Angelo's in McFarland. The comment I am responding to absolutely infuriates me, as it is written by someone who has no idea what they are talking about.
For all of you who read the above comment, and my response, please take into consideration that the statements reported here are not at all the way that I, a person involved from the ground up on the inside, know them to be.
For starters, when a restaurant changes its menu to swap hot wings and cheese bread for house made Lobster Ravioli and Spaghetti Carbonara, it is hardly "scaled down." I will also assure you that changing a menu seasonally is not a sign of struggle, it is a sign of seasonal change (it happens in the Midwest from time to time.)
Also, if you truly did dine at Angelo's I can assure you that I was your wait staff. If you had this much disrespect and contempt for what John and I were doing to make these obtuse statements, I wonder why you dined there regularly. I am ashamed and embarrassed that I gave you service. By making statements such as these you are disrespecting food service employees everywhere, including yourself.
If this had been my spot to write a good luck piece to Picasso's it would have said:
Angelo's of McFarland has closed, but coming soon in its place is Picasso's pizzeria. Picasso's hopes to have their second location open early to mid-October. They will offer delicious pizza pies, available for carry-out, dine in and delivery. While Angelo's will be missed by many locals and out of towners alike, it will be a treat to have the space filled with another locally owned restaurant.
If this comment does get posted, I do not expect it to make a difference in anyone's life. All that I hope is the person who initially wrote the article will take my statement into consideration. I would also welcome any response from the administrator, editor, or author of this site, first in the form of an apology.
